Have any of you actually watched the program? It's a wind up.... all done for fun. Watch the actual players..... some of them are on three or four teams and just change their shirts...
(except the jockeys).. :)

i can't believe you lot are taking this seriously and comparing the coverage dodgeball gets with paintball, it's a joke that you all just don't get. f..k me even the commentators are laughing at it. as far as being taken as a serious sport its on a par with a millenium rules committee meeting.

why does everyone want it to get paintball on tv soo bad????

a) it wont go fully mainstream like football, golf, rugby, tennis, cricket etc. EVER

b) if it does get on tv a lot and go mainstream, then millions of people will come along who will be better than the you. i dont want millions of people coming in and makin me look like a chump.

or do you all really care about this precious sport that we have!!!

you get me

Dear god the resident idiot has come up with a vaild point that didn't involve any name calling of any kind... maybe there is a mind behind that mac... ;)

I totally agree with A there is no way that Paintball will ever become mainstream, its just too expensive to get started. Its the sort of sport that can rival sailing or snowboarding etc. it won't ever become the next football or rugby. Football and Rugby are so easy to follow compared to an average paintball game.

Granted getting paintball on TV will increase the awareness of the "sport" but what will that actually achieve? More players... great, that means more ways for the "sponsorship" to be split... maybe just maintaining the status quo would work quite well? (yes I might have voted Conservative)

Kyle, if we ever agree on anything again I might have to buy you a drink or something :p :D

A few reasons paintball will never get on prime time telly in a regular slot:

1) Its bloody expensive to cover.
2) It belongs in a magazine show as a feature.
3) It's rediculously hard to follow and predict. (coverage wise)
4) It's boring to watch for any length of time.

Yup, until they work out a camera system that can cover every part of the field at the same time, then edit it so that it makes sense, you are never going to be able to follow the action. Main problem is 14 people, all capable of making or breaking a game...... every other sport has a point of focus, either a ball, puck or goal or it's a one on one. Anyone think of anything like paintball that gets any coverage?
So, problem is, to get it mainstream it needs proper coverage. To get proper coverage it will cost a fortune. To make the money to cover it properly, you'd need mainstream advertising. Catch 22.

Not the most valid of points against becoming mainstream....
By mainstream I meant a sport that is as popular as Football or Rugby etc. I'll accept your point on Golf because a fair amount of people play it recreationally (just like paintball) but how many of your friends drive F1 cars?

And how often do you see Kart Racing on normal TV?

I'm sure you see my somewhat strange reasoning here...
