Why is Paintball so expensive?!?!?

Can anyone give me a valid reason as to why paintball is so expensive? I aint dissing paintball companies but i just wondering how much are they really making out of us? Playing next year will cost me at least £1500 if i go to most of the tourney's here and that also includes one overseas tourney. To me that seems a lot.
plz note this aint trying to have a go at anyone and i know that it comes with the sport but there must be a big profit margin.
Any thoughts? no?... oh well...back to the grindstone

Haha... true... so fun things are either really expensive, or completely free. Much as we'd like paintball to be free, it isn't ever going to be, so I guess we're stuck with it being expensive...

volumes are relatively low so profit margins have to be high for the shops/sites/manufacturers etc to make money. the higher the volume/turnover the lower u can drop the percentage which will inturn increase the volume etc etc.

plus all us idiots always pay way over the odds for anything shiny

Labor costs mainly.

The second you need to pay people to do something stuff gets very expensive very fast. Good reffing is $100/day per ref minimum if oyu're using local guys, go for $200 or more if you have to fly people in. Gotta pay people to do registration, scoring, pick up garbage, sell food, etc. And then you gotta pay the taxes and insurance and workman's comp for those people too.

****, why does eating at a restaurant cost $8+ per person when you could buy the food they're serving you at the grocery store for under $1?

It's all about the labor.
