ok, so how would it work?
FPS is measured as ball leaves the barrel, Surely its then too late to regulate the air flow accordingly, Yeah you could get an average but what about a small ball followed by a fat ball, the fat one is gonna come out bloody fast (tight barrel fit etc.)

Personally i feel the current system is fine.

As for testing your marker, I assume you are firing your marker away from public highways etc. so most likely to be at a site/playing field.
If thats the case then they should always have a working chrony there, so just use that one :)

or how about the eminently more sensible idea, it just turns itself down? personally i'd rather my marker turned its velocity down to a safe level rather than switch off entirely. would piss me off no end if i went to do a mugging and my marker turned off.

Well...

I think the best reason is it would keep people who don't know what they're doing from using the markers at unsafe velocities.

Of course, no sane manufacturer would actually install such equipment on their markers unless every other manufacturer was forced to do it, for obvious cost reasons.

Take your built-in chrono and transmit the signal to a centralized receiver (for, say, X-Ball) and you no longer have to chrono period. Guns are self-regulating and info immediately available so should any marker go out of compliance the player can be pulled and the fps for each live player posted on the big scoreboard.
Baca, all sounds good... until someone fiddles with the chrono calibration.

Let's face it, we have enough trouble what with Marshalls supposedly having to check regs are locked. I say supposedly as mine has been checked once in over a year of playing, including one Millenium Event. How do you check whether or not someone has fiddled with the calibration of their chrono?? Hmm.. chrono them the current way I suppose which puts us right back to square one.

As for pulling players off the field for markers being out of compliance... marhsalls have enough trouble pulling players off the field for being "out of compliance" sometimes! ;)

And ally, how are you gonna know it's firing way high.. until someone takes a shot straight through the visor? Often the only way to tell a marker is firing hot is the damage it inflicts..
