People are scared because they are worried that it's taken them years to get good at a sport and that if everything changes they will be right back where they started. And nobody really takes that well.

An increased sponsorship budget for recreational ball and a decreased sponsorship budget for tournament ball doesn't have to change the way that tournament ball is played. At least not in a way that would mean that the skill set required is changed dramatically.

From what I see it is very much a case of "we have nothing to fear but fear itself".

One theory for no change, like in the business world, its a change in the "culture" of the sport, which is basically the way everyone works/ knows the game. Perhaps a change in this culture is just not good for the people and how they know the game. After all, changes come over time, evolution didnt take place at once!

And if changes do move towards rec ball, then the smaller tournament teams who don't get the sponsorship will also be left out on their own, the teams that have in the past and over time, put a good bit of money into the big name paintball companies. Couldnt this be seen as unfair to the people who have spent alot of their income on tournament paintball? Forgive me if i've got the wrong end of the stick on this argument, but what i'm trying to say is that wouldn't the cut of funding towards tournament paintball deterr people from wanting to play any type of tournament ball and therefore want to buy their own equipment...
They could pay much less, buying less equipment for rec ball by just going to a punterball site...

Or maybe im just talking rubbish
