Rushers dont even come close to the Preds. Shockwave won a MS event pro, Tigers place Pro regularly - Rushers never got near that

Just talking Am here - conventionally the feeder for Pro.

Every year I get dismayed at the UK not producing a consistent Am team to dominate a season or win some events.

Method could have done it. Kellys should have done it. Backlash, with one or two better players could have too. Same with Ecstacy/Hybrid.

But so far they all failed at the last hurdle.

Maybe another thread possibility here?

Maybe, hasnt the original question been answered? ;) Then the thread is ours muhuhahahaha (until TFP arrive and crack some heads anyway)

With the Am situation, like most teams these days have a "Pro" squad (if you can call them that) and an Am and Nov feeder team/s. Problem is that it is very rare that an Am team can stay together as the players that come of standard are drafted into the Pro squad pretty quick. Especially so when Xball was in Europe. It is a shame really. We need some sort of transfer market like in footy :)

Don't get me wrong, there are great Am teams in the Uk, but to be fair, they aren't winning anything.

(in other words you are right :) )

Rich is cool and a good baller.

On the topic of UK Am teams. Two things come to mind when it comes to winning events.
1. Sponsorship
2. Attitude

Generally UK teams do not have any financial backing whatsoever. Some may recieve discounted paint and a bit of free gear or whatever but when it comes to booking flights, renting cars, accomadation, entrance fee etc

Players have to pay this on their own, and when your looking at playing 5 millennium series events, this can be a large amount of financial strain on a player especially if they do not earn that much.

This is simply for playing millennium series events, not UK domestic events. So in saying this, I doubt alot of teams could train week in week out and when they do train, do they have the right attitude to training?
Do they just play games?
Do they do physical training?
Do they do drills?

If they do train by doing drills. I believe the most important questions they should be asking themselves is " Are we doing these drills right and are they having a noticeable effect on our performance on the field? "

Teams can do drills week in week out, but if their doing this constantly and its not making any difference on their game. They need to re-think the way they train.

What you are saying there is exactly what the Rushers did. They were probably the first UK team to actually go and train technique rather than just bashing heads.

Not all we did was right but I think the proof is in the pudding!!

Also, the Rushers didnt have any real sponsorship until after 2 MS wins and a second place.

It can be done therefore without sponsorship - but teams have to address the question of proper, effective training.

I think Nexus have proved these points also, and there are some teams out there that are showing improvements from training, to some extent, in the correct manner.

But how many of them would be prepared to take a season off and go and train, learn left handed shooting etc - like the Rushers?

Mark - I completely agree, when I used to run Monkey Love, we had one of the UK Rowing Coaches playing with us and he was invaluble for devising 'proper' training schedules (sticking to them was much harder, but we did our best) and this is something that Tigers (Am Squad) have also recently dedicated themselves to for this and coming seasons.

Tony - I'm good bud, hope you guys ain't hassling Sheriff too much:p You gonna be in A'dam?

Ahhh, The Dam. My spiritual home...

I hope to make the trip this year but a three week holiday i have planned in Europe is sapping my resources right now. I'm sure Mr Toye remembers the last Rushers tourney in the Dam. One of their boys (who shall remain nameless, for now) came out of a brothel window to find a crowd of 30 paintballers waiting for him. Probably the definition of embarassing...

:D

Sorry Bolter, are you alright? Havent seen you in time mate, is life treating you well?

:D

And i do not frighten you Mr Toye. Last time we spoke you said I made you scared..... But sexy scared.

:D

And I honestly wasnt having a pop at Rich, I'm sure he's a great guy and he clearly has great taste. I just wondered who he was, thats all...

:D
