Right first off, back in the day, (early 90's) there was only 2 major events in Europe, Mayhem and Campaign, then if you were lucky you would play Nashville, and that was it for major events, so 1, there wasn't must else to play and 2, when we used to play a UK event, there used to be about 9 Pro Teams, so you used to have tuff matches everytime.
Now there are only 2 pro's (Nexus and Shockwave) and more events to play!!!

If our main Teams want to progress, the only way of doing this is to play european events, but if like you say there were no more MS Then we would have to play UK events. But like Pete said, Nexus, Tigers, Disruption, The Firm, Shock and entity have played a lot of UK events this year.

I would probably play Centurios as to go to the USA is a little out of our reach :( but this would only be alongside ALL the UK events, as we play these anyway.

If there was a major UK series, it would have to be big enough to draw the foreign teams over as I don't think we have the volume of top teams over here on their own. The teams already mentioned have played the UK series all year as far as I can tell...

It would be wonderful to have a major UK series but I do think the 'road trips away' are part and parcel of it....they're grrrrrrrrrrreat! :D

OK, so I guess what I was aiming at with the thread was to see if, with no MS, British paintball might be strengthened, with Brit ballers opting to play domestic events instead.

My feeling is that if the UK teams just train for MS, and play MS, then there is no room for a proper UK series. If there were a UK series, and the top teams from that series went to play in MS events, that would in my opinion be a better scenario than the current one.

Are any countries going to develop properly, if their top teams don't play competitive paintball in their own country and don't influence other teams in their own country to improve, through playing them in competition.

Twizz, you remember that back in the day there were several different series to play. The bigger teams would attend, even if it were just for practice. The events would often be limited-paint affairs, so there were fixed costs for the teams to work with. Then, the best of these teams might go play Toulouse, or Campaign.
Now, teams are being expected to play all MS events, and have no money to play in the UK.

For me, the teams should play a complete domestic season, and then pick other events that they can afford to attend outside of the country after this is covered. The whole thing is backwards, and I feel UK paintball is suffering because of this.

Of course, of everyone that answered, no-one woudl play in the UK even if there is no MS, and thats a bad sign.
I think with your post being in the major league bit people are answering to what other big league tournaments would they play.

Most of the MS teams have played a UK domestic tournament with disruption playing the cpps nexus tigers playing the nspl and we have played the masters and some of the CPPS so teams are playing UK ones just not all the top teams are playing the same one.

If that makes any sense.

total sense. Plus, I am completely out of touch with the UK tournament scene, so thanks for the updates (Lemon too)
I was trying to see whether the MS is partly to blame for the UK competitive downturn, but if anything, it seems there are 'too many' places to play, rather than not enough..

Same happened with training sites over the last couple of years, lots sprang up and diluted the talent rather than increasing it. 1 or 2 main teams train at each place and 1 or 2 main teams play each UK series

The UK tournamant calendar is a little crowded.

Limited paint events would address the expense aspect, and also make the playing field more level.
