Well, I'm sure both posts compliment each other. I'm not against scrimmaging at all, it's just not a route to improve the basics of your game.
With all the best will and intention in the world sup-air sites are open for people to use, but almost always the training days are repeated scrimmaging sessions.
With a very small UK (potential) player base, we must take training and coaching that much more seriously than the US. In the States, by weight of numbers they are going to have more incidents of naturally gifted players. In order to produce even a small amount of teams competitive against US talent pools we need to take what we have and develop it to the best of our abilities. OK not everybody will be a gifted player, but with training and drills, I think you will see the overall competence level rise, and probably keep people in the game for longer. They is no biological or mythical difference that makes US players better, sure they have a bigger talent pool to choose from, but that does not mean they have the all the worlds most gifted players. By training and development nearly anybody should be able to play Paintball to a reasonable level. I mean I've played in the states, and some of of their players were worse than anybody I can think of over here, so not only do they get more gifted players but also more goobers.
One of the biggest problems UK balling has it is predominantly two demographics, older men with money to play (Liz excuse the sexism, but you get my point), or younger faster talented players. Us old farts just want to shoot fools and play (I mean we got wife's, kids families, jobs etc, so training is for wimps). The youngsters who will take the UK game forward need to have their natural ability and fitness channelled and trained. But not many (or enough), people are yet doing this.
