Depends on what type of paintball you are wanting to play.

New and old players are gravitating to the emek marker from planet eclipse. It is a mechanical marker but has has high end shot feel with the gamma core. Plus with the upgrades available there is something for everyone with it.

Electro markers haven't changed much in the last 10 years. With the same firing mode nxl 10.5 most markers will keep up and still be of use. It's just getting hold of parts for older markers.

Even picking up a planet eclipse etha 2 or gtek are great options for a beginner into the electronic marker. In terms of reliability and performance.

+1 for emek if you are playing walk ons, or woodland mech tournaments. local sites may well let you use one if you are going on a normal day too.

otherwise, Etha 2 or something from the axe / mini family from Empire is a good place to start if you are looking at playing cpps or woodland masters.

You will need to have been a member for 2 weeks and make approx 20 posts contributing to the forum - this also helps avoid new players buying the first shiney thing, and to also browse & get some discussion in to point to what sorts of gear would suit their interests
