The problem with asking someone to change their screen name is where do you draw the line? I am personally not offended by his S/N but can see where others would be. What do we classify as offensive? If I was a homophobe could I ask a guy to change his S/N if it had homosexual connotations because it offended me? Or ask that swearing be banned as some could find it offensive?
I think the best course would be is to ask the guy/girl to explain their S/N and politly point out that some may take offense to it. If they dont want to change it then let them keep it.

Just my thoughts :D

whats in a name?

that is a good question...
especially in todays modern climate and the world politically ans socially being so volatile.I understand what Budda says and likewise the point that Crom is making...its a tough one and like Mr. Big says the person concerned probably meant nothing by it and didnt mean to offend.Robbo is doing the right thing which will no doubt end in the individual having to change his name...fair e nuff.maybe this does impinge upon his/her rights but heh if it was done in jest it shouldn't be a problem for the person to change the name...if they meant it maliciously which i say again i hope they did not then they'd probably have much more pressing current affairs to be plotting and attending too at the moment...

keep it real ppl,
Scribble.

This is what I was trying to avoid. It's starting to turn political.
Read my post people. Agree with what I asked, or disagree, I have been nothing but courteous.
As far as the freedom of speech infringement: Puh-leeze!:D
That only goes so far. In Holland, as in most countries in Europe, certain things are actually illegal to say.

My reaction to his name may have been a bit over the top, but suffice to say that I have my reasons to get edgy around certain things. The less said of that, the better.
If anyone feels offended by what another person says or does, it is perfectly acceptable to at least speak to this person about it. You may get the result you were after, you may not, but that is using your freedom of speech too.

As far as the rollerbladers suck stickers are concerned, they were made by a company called Roces, which at this point in time is one of the major producers of inline skating equipment in the world. But consider it removed from my signature, it is a very small consession to make.

Anyway, I think the whole matter was settled rather well by both Robbo and Mr Big. I hope no more posts will be added to this thread, because, at least to me,it has lost it's relevance.

Scrib, there's a tourney on (I believe) the 19th of february, called the endurance cup. You should be able to find info on that on www.team-endurance.com

Later people!

as i see it we are using space on someone elses equipment (web server) if someone feels there is an issue with something on the site they have a duty to mention it as we all do.

the moderators deal with it as the representitive of the site and we all live with it.

so issues about rights and stuff go straight out the window. This aint the court of human rights gents its a paintball forum which provides a service to all ballers if there is the slightest issue that could bring the site into disripute it needs to be sorted.

keep politics on other news groups or forums

( dam to much coffee again please forgive me)
