True, but the same could be applied to leagues.
Winning the PA League, nice, winning the NPPL, lot nicer.

Personally, if I were running a team, I'd throw the stand alones in for their fun factor, nothing else. But I've always been ambitious.

But we seem to be in agreement more than we first thought. :)

we are indeed mate, but surely a team paying £1000+ to play say Millennium or an NPPL one off event would maybe want to try and take it serious?

I will hold my hands up and say myself, I looked on standalone on off tournaments as a way to get away with the guys, drink for 14 hours solid, get up still half cut, play 5 games of paintball, then go back to the bar, but now my attitude has changed for 2007, I can get drunk with the guys every weekend if I wanted, doesn't cost me a grand to do it and I don't come back from blowing £1500 saying, oh wish we had done that differently!!!

Winning a standalone is just as important as a league, if you want it bad enough!!

But, guess you need to guage what the tournament means to you and the team.

You doing HB Buddha, might catch up over there...I'll be the Scottish guy in rehab!!!!!

I fully agree with you, providing the one off is an event that is of a higher caliber than the "local league". Obviously, the Mudhutville Open isn't all that exciting...

If I do make it to HB, I'll be guy getting pestered by half the players who all seem to be saying "You're Dutch? Wow.....got weed?"
