I would use the deadly spike to grab hold of, cos the spike is only on the end, a bit like metal railings and slowly but surely work my way across.

meh molten rock has a much thicker consistency than water, its kinda like a hot version of thickening cement.

My solution, drink the lava, and just before it starts to give you heartburn, eat the cake, the cream will sooth the heartburn and cool the fire inside. once finished pull a spike out the ceiling to pick your teeth with.

then you need to figure out how your going to get out the damned room.
