In one of the other threads, people were saying that we need name players and recognition to help promote our sport. I think a good way of promoting the different players would be for the leagues to start keeping stats. Almost all sports have statistics to keep track of how well their players are playing and this makes it easier to tell who is standing out from the others. Some stats I think we should keep are eliminations, pulls, hangs, muggings, and muggings defeated.

That is a pretty wicked idea, but you would have to find a group of very dedicated people to cover the events like clockwork to make sure no one missed anything. Plus you would have to find people who would do it for free as there would probably be no money involved. Great idea, I just don't see all that happening anytime soon. The millenium series is kind of on that track, but it has a long way to go.

Whats the status of the UKPSF on getting paintball recognised as a sport in the UK?
Someone on the boards said only a week or so ago that the negotiations/deliberations are still ongoing......:(

Also, the stat's thing. I reckon that would be a great idea - but quite a logistical nightmare to implement!! You'd have to have a couple of people watching each and every game that takes place knowing the names of each player on the field - or grabbing them as they come off...

I'm sure some kind of thing would be easier to succesfully carry out in the pro division perhaps. I dunno - very cool idea though (I'm telling ya, you've still gotta get those special radar chronos set up so you can monitor the speed of the balls on video screens off the field!! It will be done!! :D )

The number of elims would be hard though. It is not always definite who hit who. And flag pulls and hangs wouldnt be fair because front players are never usually alive for that. Also, if there are two or three people around the station then who pulls it? That stat would make sense.

Of course different positions are going to have different types of stats. Do you ever hear anyone talking about Barry Bond's excellent E.R.A.? And if I'm on your team and we both have a shot at a pull, you better be quick. Unless, of course, you want me to have more value as a free agent at the end of the season.

Ahhh well.
Tiddly-Winks is not actually a recognised Sport in the UK... but flying Radio-Controlled Aircraft is!

When talks with UKSport reach a conclusion I'll let everyone know

BTW The UKPSF could keep stats on every player if we had the money to keep a full-time paid staff... but we don't :(
