what size air compressor would i need to fill a 4500 or 5000 air tank?

i believe (could be wrong) that cfm stands for cubic feet per minute, ie how much air it will produce per minute, this will not affect the pressure it can produce, just how quickly it produces it

dont know why it doesnt work but never mind.

go to ebay, and look in sporting goods, scuba section then search for compressors. brings up 4 or 5

ahhh so im thinking its gotta be big....bigger than a 3hp 1...lol

not necesserily, but your not going to be able to use your standard compressor that you would spray a car with.

if it will produce 4500psi output pressure then im guessing it will do the job!

well i dont know f*** all about compressors, so im just guessing here. if your compressor will produce the required pressure ie 4500psi + then i guess you can fill a bottle off it with the correct hose and fitting. just remember compressored air is very dangerous, so if you hurt yourself, it has nothing to do with me (public disclaimer!!!)
