what should i say

I'm guessing your a younger teenager matey.

Thing is, in my experience...you cannot explain your idiosyncrasies to a boisterous group....it just won't end well.

It's weird, we call these people our mates, yet you try and explain something you feel strongly about and you get jeered at...been there.

So...I wouldn't bother trying to explain it, when you are asked if you play a sport.

Firstly, it isn't technically a Sport anyway.

Have some PGI's (well one or two) in your bag, maybe a couple of good videos on your phone and if you are asked if you play a sport..then simply answer with the truth.

"Kind of, but it isn't anything you would be interested in."
(possibly add)
"It's a bit more involved, than kicking a little ball around."

Instantly, they will be interested.

But try not to do it with a group because, as stated, it can be very difficult to put your point across to a lively crowd.

Don't make claims you cant back up...even if you can, be cool about it all and don't big yourself up and it also helps, to be armed with knowledge about these things, for example...that a Marker isn't an Airgun and so on.

KAT:

Diving into a tiny space while shooting, all the time aiming at a small, moving target, is all well and good and a personal favourite of mine and the Catholic Community, but...is a catch 22 situation.

If you actually HIT the target, (which lets face it boys, is always our real intention), this is usually frowned upon and if you MISS the target and trip into the big hole, you can end up out of the game for a good 9-10 months.

Success, is when you splatter around the target, then get into cover.

Find the best short video you can of tournament paintball - not longer than 20-30 seconds, and put it on your phone (how should I know how? I'm too old for all this modern technology ;) ) to show your mates when they look incredulous. Rid the world of some preconceptions.

If you're lucky they'll just wipe and keep playing :D

LMAO at Lump's "shooting little drops of rainbow" I'm going to use that. My current technique is to rant about playing snake and mugging people in carwashes until they get the impression that "snake" has a sexual context and that I assault people in service stations. They take me seriously then:cool:.

When I started playing it was really really hard to explain that I wasnt a weekend pretend army soldier diving around doing commando rolls!

I would say things like "honestly, its gonna be big, theres tournaments and prizes!"

and I would often get a "yea I heard the SAS are the best at it!"

honestly, after about 4 years playing, I lost interest trying to convert the world and only really my close friends ask how its all going now. And thats a rare thing in itself.

Go paintballing with them, completely own them, and afterwards, ask them how come you were so much better if there is no skill involved. Worked for me. :)

ok peeps, at school when my freinds ask me if i play a sport and obviously i would say paintball. But i always get the same answer from them.

this is what they say: Paintball isnt even a sport, any body can do it, it does'nt involve skll at all , it doesnt involve running and all you do is hide behind a bunker and you shoot at people.

i've already said to them it does involve running, skill and it is a sport but they still dont belive me. they've only played at once at a punter day, but thats in the woods and doenst have as much runnning or skill as sup'air.
i've showed them vids on my phone but still they dont belive me.

what should i say to them to actualy make them belive it isnt a lame and pointless sport.
Just tell them to F*** off!

Easy as that :D

This is fantastic :D I love how after years now... topics on p8nt are still so very quickly turned into exchanges of sexual innuendos. You'd of thought based on the contents of those 'ten reasons to date a paintballer' jobbos knocking about we'd be getting it right left and centre, instead whoever wrote them clearly isnt a member on here, the evidence is mounting that we're all infact desperate, saddos with farrrr too much time to spend on our beloved forum talking about what we 'would and could do'. Paintballers are the ones who were sent out of class for giggling at the pictures of private parts during sex education :D

As for telling your mates... pah... easy. Show them a Derder trailer on your phone, pick out a guy in a plain jersey with a similar build and say its you. Dont worry, we wont say anything to them ;)
