Modest Mouse - Most especially the albums "Good News For People Who Love Bad News" and "The Moon And Antarctica" . Obscure, independent band (until they signed a record deal a couple years ago)

Third Eye Blind

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Most especially the albums "By the Way", "Californication" and "Blood Sugar Sex Magic"

Music from the motion picture Ocean's Eleven - Great modern Jazz type stuff

Staind are alright, I think they've got a new album out

Rob Zombie - Hellbilly Deluxe, other albums suck. Kind of "industrial", maybe a bit too hard rock-ish your your taste

Our Lady Peace - Gravity was their only good album, their new one sucks like a vacuum

Louis Armstrong - I've only got a few tracks, but that cat can sure jam.

Fuel - The album "Natural Selection" is the only one I've heard, but it was pretty good.

Everclear - The album "So Much For The Afterglow" is full of fresh jams.

Disturbed - Their first two albums ("Believe" and "The Sickness") are great, their last one blows like a hurricane. They're a pretty hard rock type band, which normally isn't my favorite style of music either, but these guys are very good, if a bit redundant.

That's some of the best stuff currently on my MP3 player, Modest Mouse being my favorite of the lot.

Hey Mario - try these, all PGi approved :)

If you want something chilled try:

Death cab for cutie - plans (chilled, nothing heavy)
Granddaddy - Sumday (chilled, nothing heavy)
Kings of convenience - quiet is the new loud (Norwegian geeks playing folk - but it's good :) )
Calexico - Feast of wire (chilled and different)

If you want to listen too that is upbeat you don't have the think about:

The get up kids - something to write home about (Classic band)
Jets to Brazil - Orange Rhyming dictionary (Classic again, and you'll recognise track 11 ;) )
Suicidal tendencies - FNG (if you don't own this you should, classic)
Ladytron - witching hour (electronica, but some decent tunes)
Bubba Sparxx - Dark days, bright nights (Maybe not as good as Deliverance, but southern hip hip, but in a good way and second only to Nappy Roots)
Real McKenzies - Oot & Aboot (I prefer then to Dropkick myself)
Karma to Burn - Wild Wonderful Purgatory (pure stoner rock. No vocals just RIFFS)

If you want something heavy:

Earthtone 9 - lo definition discord (heavy)
Static X - Wisconisn Death Trip (Heavy)
Neurosis - Through Silver in Blood (makes anything else look happy)

If you want something with something to say:

Downset - Do we speak a dead language (fooking awesome, and with something to say)
Disposable Heroes of HipHiprisy - Hypocrisy is the greatest luxury (awesome, awesome album with LOTS to say. Michael Franti is a god)
Anti-Flag - The Terror State (Punk, but with a lot to say again)

University Barbarians
Dave Matthews Band - A combination of some of the best musicians in the world - Dave Matthews on guitar/vocals, Boyd Tinsely on strings, Stephan Lessard on bass, Leroi Moore on wind/brass, and Carter Beauford is easily one of the best drummers/percusionists I have ever heard (his drum kit consists of over 30 something pieces). Their live stuff is amazing, but concerning albums his earlier stuff is the best (Crush, Under the Table and Dreaming, Before these Crowded Streets)...visit dmband.com

Dispatch - anything. Most popular album is probably Bang Bang, but all the others are awesome too. If you want to pick up one CD go for All Points Bulletin - it's a recording of their last ever concert. Dispatch consists of 3 incredibly talented musicians playing numerous intruments. They never signed with a major record label until after they split and produced all of their own music.Their final concert drew 120,000 people from around the world, and not one of their songs had ever been played on the radio. Dispatch are true underground heros. Hell, they eve had a movie made about them. The Final Dispatch - Movie Trailer

Checkout Dispatchmusic.com

Big Head Todd and the Monsters - anything

Guster - can't remember the album name, but most songs are brilliant

I tried to give you three bands that you would most likely never heard of, and who I think are some of the best in the world.

Reel Big Fish
Coldplay (if you like them - I do)
Fort Minor! - They're a must
Prodigy - Find some of their remixes, e.g. Voodoo People (Pendulum remix)
Try and get the 'Hip Hop History' Album, that's pretty good.

Don't remember anything else I think you'd like...?

Get some good hiphop too. I thoroughly recommed Zion I - "Deep Water Slang 2.0"
