What ever you buy is up to you really, you just have to find a gun that works for you and feels right, like skeet and scars have just pointed out, for everyone that likes a certain gun there will be another that hates it, that's the nature of us paintballers we love our own and like to bitch about others, whether the bitchin' is justified or not?
The best advice i can input into this is to find a large group of players like a local team and there you will find all the guns you want to try (providing they are not sponsored and tied to one type of gun). If you provide the paint, most will be happy for you to try there guns out over the range and to get a good feel to what you like.
The only other point to add is, don't shy away from the secondhand market ! There are some stunning guns out there being sold at throw away prices.....absolutely nothing wrong with them but the introduction of the Ion has killed the second hand market and prices on what are currently unfashionable guns (cockers, impy's, etc) are a real steal. Like scars says you can get a quality £1000 e-blade on here for £250-350 and it will serve you really well.
"or you could always buy a plastic gun that was made in korea":D
Ps
Anyone like my new Sig ?
