What is your idea of a perfect scenario-style walk on?

Pretty much as is says in the title.

Been a lot of talk about the decline of walk ons at various sites and there are a few out there trying to revive them. With this in mind I'd like to pose a question.

Why do you want out a walk on?

A good old fashioned shoot em up?
Punter style games on punter style zones?
Bigger zones with more complex missions?
Linked games with a theme?
An almost mini big game?
Or what?

And what are you expecting in terms of site infrastructure? Both in terms of the game zones and the safe area, etc.

Fire away and let us know why you think and just as importantly WHY?

Short 1 hour games with a simple theme or mission played across multiple game zones depending on their size. With a massive booze up.

Walkons are dieing because a lot of them have turned into big games ie Staargate, Time Wars, Paintfest (aka Diamond Wars) and people have to save a bomb to play them (£50 ticket then paint, food, beer, petrol)

Where as the old standard games like Unreals domination, warped plague / swarm games and the regular NPF domination are about £50 which includes paint and food in some cases then all you've got to do is folk out for petrol but you miss the more social side of paintball like camping and drinking.

I like walkon style walkons . .I want an easy day out, shooting folk in the face and have off field banter with me mates.

Wouldnt like over complicated games. save maybe 1 larger 30-45m game, say, after lunch.

I'm with Craigy, some short knockaboot games and maybe 1 with respawn etc. after lunch. Also it's always good for a site to have a "site special" e.g Warren Wood has The Hill. One mental game during the day needs to be done.

too many respawn type games killing the skill set for a walkon,
who cares if you play tight of you can run back wipe it and play on,
so boring save that for a big game where the walk to the respawn makes it significant

I agree with the above two. I would like a day of shorter 1 respawn games, with perhaps 1 longer game lasting an hour or two during the day.

I also agree with Random Invert. Big games are great but what's missing are the cost effective walk ons. Shouldn't cost any more than £50 with a case of paint.

Same here

Field layout and features of the site is what makes games interesting for me. Plenty of huts, fortress style barricades, bridges and towers always make for an interesting day. It also encourages movement as there's always plenty of cover to jump between. Sites offering plain woodland fields with a few token piles of logs as bunkers shows a lack of effort from operators and is a bit lame in my book.

I've been playing the Weekend Warriors site at Reading, and was very impressed by the field layouts

Could the decline on walkons be more down to the fact there are so many big games about now and people can't afford to do both?

Reason I say this is that over the winter months (out of season for pb), there were a LOT more players attending. As soon as the big games started up, numbers dropped to around 40-50% of off season.

This year has been mental for big games - almost one every 2 weeks. It saps on finances a lot - I know that I haven't been to a walk on in the same month as a big game simply because if I put out £50 on a ticket, then £90 on paint.. petrol... hotel.. food... my monthly paintball fund is depleted and wifey would slap me silly. It is hard enough having the dosh to buy kit on top of these events (cant wait for October/November when I can actually put money away for kit upgrades) :p

Other than that... mini games in the morning, bigger game in the afternoon.
