i think the idea behind these was origonaly so you can set a cocker with a shorter trigger pull,the bolt face stays in place longer even as the back part moves off allowing you to time your marker closer
ie making the timing gap between the marker fireing and the back block moving shorter....as the sprung part allows you to have the block moving as the marker fires.
nice idea...but the spring is not consistant as you say, the velocity will jump about a bit esp under rapid fire
