The socket for shavers IS stepped down to 115v you can buy a shaver adapter socket and plug that straight in the 240 socket (though no step down tranny in there????) but it works??

Real fun comes when Americans buy a socket convertor and plug their electronic equipment into our power :D :D :D ....I saw a rack of 5 very expensive Shure radio mic recievers plugged in and turned on.....the lights went very bright before they went out.....no-one had thought to flick the switch at the back to change the input volts :D :D :D

I could bore you with the reason why American power is only 110v but suffice to say it was a lie that got the power supplied at that rate.

What they tell us: 240v
What it is in real life: 220v

it's just like they tell us power flows from posotive to neagtive, it's acutally negative to posotive.

Just shows that you can't trust anyone, not even door to door salesman :p

We actually fluctuate between 220v and 240v, depending on whether there's an advert break in Corrie or something. In fact, wasn't there a big news article about this during the last Olympics, and there being a massive power drain after Steve Redgrave won his fifth gold and everybody got up to make a cuppa or something? :D
