I have run a trusty DYE UL 12" .692 for aaages now never found any paint to be too big and 12" iss perfect for me.

However some people find 12" too small esp for back guys who are more likely to use the barrel to manipulate the bunkers, but as with most kit its all down to personal preference.

without draging up old threads apparently after 8' it doesnt matter a **** and has no effect on accuracy so its all down to prefference (sp)

personally i use 14' 692 with a 695 just incase and never need anything else although i know of people that use a 16' to aid pushing bunkers back .. (back players)

If you're going to own just one barrel the make it a larger one. Our team was using .692-.695 to shoot polar ice in the cold weather. Switched to a smaller bore barrel now we're using premium.

Length is personal. Imagine a barrel so long you could manipulate your oponents barricade from the back corners. Now you're laughting....... (until someone gets past the tip, then you need help from your teammates)

Barrel sets like the freak need to be kept clean, you really don't want to get dirt between the various sections. In this respect dedicated barrels of various bore sizes are better, but i like the freak because everytime i buy a new gun i just buy a new back for it.

I get the feeling NorthIrish wants you to listen to him!!! :D

Anyway, my advice, if you can save for a set then do that. It's mainly dependant on the size of the paint you shoot, so if you can get a good paint to barrel match then you're gonna be more accurate. Shooting paint through a barrel that's too big for the paint IS going to make a difference to the way your paint flies.

Lengthwise, as said before, personal preference. Me, if I'm playing at the back I prefer a longer barrel (18") as I find it that little bit more accurate & easier to wrap from corner to corner. But if I'm playing mid or front then a 12"-14" does the job fine.
