With out getting into the chemistry of it all and making this very complicated

all you need is a high quality Alkaline battery, (alkaline is the key)

rechargeable batteries are not alkaline

out of the batteries we have tested in our guns, we have found Paintball Energy to be the best and Highest Alkaline levels

Guys (Planet Eclipse), may be a consideration already but can you make your markers work off of a wider voltage? Like say they operate on 5/6v but take a 9v battery then use a step down that doesn't waste energy into heat? That way people can use the wider variety of 9v's and rechargeables.

May be a good reason for this but I can't think of any components needed that can't be found in a 5v variation

I'm counting on the Duracells.

Has anyone tried Li-Po batteries? Of course you would need a resistor to tune the voltage down and something to prevent the battery from running completely dry.

You can buy 9v lithium rechargeables which work quite well, they're expensive initially but soon pay for themselve.

I did use them but went back to using procells, a box never goes amiss.
