Actually I think you'll find the "explosions" were caused when oil is used in your air system. Oil and extremely pressurised air will blow just about anything up.
You can buy a Stako with confidence, but like any air system, do not attempt to put oil on anything. That includes WD40, unless of course you are aiming at loosing an arm.
