Any specific reason why I shouldn't stick a preset regulator in a basin of water to see where the leak is coming from ...assuming im happy too strip it and dry/lube and rebuild it afterwards...It's a Myth reg on a Stako at about 3000psi and counting (down).

None that I can think of. I do it with bike tyres all the time But seriously, it shouldn't be a prob. Or you could cover it in washing up liquid which also works.

was reading a thread otherday on here or nation, many were saying they stuck there stako(+others) in a bath of water to check for leaks, air pressure will stop water going in anywere,remove dry and away u go,not much diff from your bottle reg sliding through deep puddle or heavy rain

Its no problem mate.

Mine was leaking around the neck, between reg and tank.

Changed the shi!!y little o-ring on the back end of the reg, for a slightly thicker one and all was good.
