I suggested Actinic primarily because you don't have to know anything about site design, coding or web design packages. Don't forget you are technically minded, others just want to get a business up and running quickly. For many £400 is less than the time it would take to code a site from scratch, but it just depends on how much an individuals time is worth...

Anyone can use Actinic to build and administer a site. I have put a few clients on sites based on it as it means they can perform day to day upkeep (adding products, downloading order etc) without getting me in constantly to do any code/design work. If he's having difficulty working with Dreamweaver I don't think coding his own baskets etc is going to be the best option...

Actinic also has built in 128bit encyptions (can also be usd with SSL's if preferred) and can link directly to Worldpay, again without the customer having to understand a single line of code. You don't have to pay per transaction? Unless you mean having to pay Worldpay?? Which you would regardless of your site solution if you are using Worldpay as your CC processor.

That's not to say Actinic is perfect, far from it. But it is simple and stable. Which can sometimes be two of the most important features needed...

Havng just started a company, i know that you need to register before you can do anything. Tht's £80 registration.

Then you need to open a bank acount (natwest ans HSBC are nice people, we went with HSBC).

You then need to talk to your bank about taking net card orders, the only way that they are going to give you this right away with no premises or anything is to buy an off the shelf web packeage. There is about £500 gone right away, but it is a worthwhiile investment (even if your business goes tits up, you have loads of shiny stuff!!)

Good luck mate :)
i was planning more along lthe lines of just having a small supplier type thing that sells ND stuff, not an actual company.....and i guess if i get good enough prices, 5% isnt to bad to pay......:(
