Tight or excessively loose underwear is a distraction, and distractions you don't need during paintball. Occasionally you might want to wear compression shorts, those spandex shorts you wear under gym shorts, to keep yourself from pulling a muscle in your legs. I usually decide what type of underwear to wear while playing paintball by what isn't currently in the washing machine at the time...but maybe that's just my method. I always have wondered what the deal is with fancy underwear: isn't it mostly unseen anyway, and when someone does see it, isn't it usually on its way off? Complicated underwear in certain specific instances is one of my top pet peeves of all time.
