Everyone got their preferences as mentioned, but a list of starter markers makes which you might want to consider in trying. It also depends on your budget.

All below have various models and are all easy upgradable

Inferno
Spyder
Tippmann

There are probably more, but as a newbie and guessing you have a limited budget these might be the best ones to look at.

as said by chunk, get the JT 5.0 (6.0 is pointless for an extra £60)
i got one it performs great but u will need to but a new barrel for it, from eclipse its only about £190, but thats with nufin else, i spent another £30 on CO2,£50 on hopper and £20 on pak.so u r looking at about £270 for a workable gun but then u will need to but goggles, squegee, pak etc
i think the low level spyders are meant to have plastic bolts. all the reviews i have read on them like the spyder flash say that it was KingmanUSA trying to make there image better but they are really crapply made, like the sight rail is "made from scrap metal" and stuff like that

Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but also consider the second hand market. People tend to get bored with their toys when newer, shinier ones come out, plus teams often have spare markers they are looking to sell.

Plenty of automags at silly prices floating about - worth checking out as they're reliable as heck and upgradeable too, but try 'em all out and see which suits you best.

if u wanna go basic then grab yahself a spyder i used to shoot a spyder tl+ and had no problems with it, it aint an angel but it shoots straight easy to maintain and the triggers snappy! If u wanna head towards the electric range i can say my impulse has been quite a good guy n u can upgrade them all the way as u get more money! Worth checking both guns out!
what tourney's u gonna be at your more than welcome to fire my gun off n have a play with it etc

As a new player myself (playin for about 1 month) i got a Spyder E-99. an electronic marker that can go up to 13 bps. The gun is sweet. Very easy to maintain and clean. Only thing i recommend is getting a different barrel. the stock barrel is kinda bad. I got a 2002 Smart Parts All American, and i can outshoot my friend who has the same gun.
