What a day! Both teams jumped into the action with gusto and pursued their objectives with determination; gathering the materials to extract live W.A.S.P samples from the SwarmCorp facility was not going to be an easy task…
Shout outs to all you players, the standard of play was full-on but fair, and everyone was smiling…that’s what paintball (and Warped!) and these events are all about! There were some intense fire-fights and some really interesting tactical moves; not a dull day!
Big-Ups to player of the Day, Sam Bache. One of the smaller players in stature, Sam attended clad in gilley suit with camo-sprayed gun but he did NOT fade into the background Whether it was crazy suicide runs, or ducking and diving holding off a crew of 5 players twice his age, Sam earned his stripes and a good dose of respect on more than one occasion. Fair play, squire! We look forward to seeing more of it in the future.
Both teams faced 2 major tasks before they could attempt to extract any samples; they had to find and capture the 5 Containment Modules (to allow safe transport of the samples they would eventually extract) and the Pheromone Deterrent Capsules that would allow them safe access to the hive (to obtain their W.A.S.P samples). Secondary to these missions, holding the Control Nodes scattered around the base facility would allow the teams to control the Swarm and unleash it’s fury upon the opposition.
Fighting was heavy around all 3 of the control nodes, with possession changing regularly and the Swarm being directed upon both teams accordingly.
The SwarmCorp Spec-Ops Team (Red team) took an early advantage thanks to a really early focus on capturing the objectives, sending front-runners (like the Stingers
) bombing down the field off the break, engaging the Eco-Insurgents (Yellow team), and allowing their team mates to extract Containment Modules and Pheromone Capsules relatively unmolested.
The Eco-Insurgents, not content to let this go unanswered, after laying hands on some objectives of their own, pulled out all the tactical stops and worked around the flanks of the Spec-Ops time and again…but never quite managing to push into their base and re-capture any of the vital objectives…Spec-Ops defence was just too tenacious!
Moving into the final mission, invasion of the hive to extract live W.A.S.P samples, the Spec-Ops had the advantage of having more transport capacity, but the Eco-Insurgents pulled out all the stops and dug deep. The attack on the hive was full-on, Eco-Insurgents showing muchos aggression and taking early control. The air over the hive was THICK with flying paint (not to mention smoke!). Spec-Ops hit back and the battle raged until all the W.A.S.P samples were out on the field.
At this point the Eco-Insurgents changed tack and squeezed the Spec-Ops Team back into their base, yet again, with some cunning use of the terrain (nice use of the ridge to conceal their flanking move). The Spec-Ops, confident that they were in control of enough Samples to win, dedicated their force to base defence. The fight was long but when the smoke cleared the war of attrition favoured the Red Team; the Eco-Insurgents just couldn’t over-run the barricades and snatch victory from the SwarmCorp Crew!
A great day all round, thanks for the feedback, guys. If you have any photos drop me an email, phone call, or PM and we can get them hosted for everyone to view.
