Okay, something for you to get your teeth into, folks.
“...We created a weapon…We thought we had control…We were wrong."
The W.A.S.P (Winged Assault and Survaillance Platform) is an experimental weapons project being undertaken at the SwarmCorp Cosford Research and Development Facility. Based on augmenting wasps, genetically engineered to exhibit aggressive tendencies, with cybernetic nano-technology enhancements, the project has been a success and is nearing completion.
Eagerly anticipated by the military, the small size and natural flight capability of the individual W.A.S.P constitutes an incredibly efficient reconnaissance element for any force, able to go unnoticed as a “fly on the wall” in almost any situation. When switched to “hive” mode individual W.A.S.Ps swarm together to form an unstoppable cloud of deadly stinging insects, capable of penetrating even heavily armoured vehicles and installations via ventilation systems and the like. The “hive” can be directed either by encoded transceiver (implanted into the W.A.S.P itself), or through a pheromone marking vector. The latter applies to battlefield theatres where large bodies of troops (or terrain) can be marked as friendly or non-friendly in short order.
48 hours ago, the prototype W.A.S.Ps ran amok during a routine test exercise. It is not clear if this was caused by an inherent instability in the W.A.S.P itself, or if the project has been compromised by an unidentified 3rd party (although the involvement of “Greenacres”, a radical eco-terrorism group is suspected). All that is known is that after being switched to “hive” mode, the swarm of W.A.S.Ps became uncontrollable and turned on the facility personnel. Recon reports suggest that the swarm is loitering and aggressively defending any incursions into the grounds of the SwarmCorp Cosford R&D facility.
To avoid a media storm, SwarmCorp have arranged the dispatch of a covert military task force to clean-up the situation, containing the swarm if possible for further development, eliminating it if not. News of this operation has been leaked to the eco-terrorism group “Greenacres” who are also inbound with an unknown agenda. An unpredictable radical group, the Greenacres operatives will be looking to contain and extract the W.A.S.P for sale on the black market or possibly even release the swarm and use it as a weapon in the name of their violent cause.
The two forces will have to brave the dangers of the swarm, best the opposition, and pursue their goals to leave the facility alive. The only thing that stands in their way is each other.
The race is set. Engagement is a certainty. The outcome is not.
The Swarm is waiting...
Overview
The day will be split into 3 game sessions; with variety of missions to be completed within each. There will also be two break sessions for general recovery.
Players will form 2 task forces; the SwarmCorp clean-up crew, charged with containing or eliminating the swarm; or the Greenacres eco-terrorists, determined to extract the swarm for sale as a weapon, or to release it onto the population at large.
Various missions will need to be completed; each with their own time limits for completion; ranging from 30 mins to 1 ½ hours, depending on the given objective. The Swarm can help or hinder you as you complete these missions; dependent on your tactical choices.
Expect a variety of objectives from "Sweep and Clear" directives, "Extraction" missions, and "Take and Hold" style tasks.
Multiple missions will be active at any one time so there will be something for everyone and more than enough to keep you busy, especially since each objective will have differing points values for completion.
Re-spawn during the game will be in effect; through on-field "medics", and at designated re-spawn points.
All-in-all it's got us excited here in the Warped office-we can't wait to see the action in full effect- and we've worked hard to come up with a dynamic action-packed game with a surprise or two!
Chrono limit is 280 fps and ramping is all good (but no full auto or burst fire modes, obviously).
Booking is still in full swing so if you haven't booked your place yet, give us a call on 01902 455455 to secure your place on the front lines.
