Great Lockdown, guys! Shout outs to all you players; the standard of play was full-on but fair, and everyone was getting stuck in while smiling…that’s what paintball (and Warped!) are all about! Not only were there some really intense fire-fights, there were plenty of well timed pushes, and some inspired sneaky-sneaky tactical outflanking moves (from both teams)… Not a dull day!
Big-Ups to the award winners! With a high standard of play and sportsmanship all around, it was hard curve to beat…these guys played their absolute hearts out and should hold their trophies high!
Convict of the Day: James Thomas- he made himself invaluable to his team, running recon and sit reps all over the field – AS WELL AS getting stuck in were needed. A true team player.
Screw of the Day: Tackleberry- great playing spirit and great use of terrain (the was like a ninja, at times!). Tackleberry put some real effort into spotting holes in the opposition lines exploiting them to good effect. Smart play!
Game Defining Move: Alan McKeown- THE reason the second perimeter fence fell; Alan’s well timed run between two raging skirmish lines of fire accounted for 4 of the 5 remaining perimeter posts on the final game allowed his team mates to really pile the pressure onto the surprised Screws. Hero!
Maddest Move of the Day: Brian Davison, we salute you. With a wild look in his eye, and his gat in his hand, Brian charged an entire gun line of entrenched opposition without a second thought for personal safety…he just wanted to take the fight to the oppo! Fair play
First game of the day saw the motley crew of Lags from cell block A (red team) busting out of their yard and going on the rampage, starting the riot and looking to settle the score by doing over as many Screws as they could, whilst finding the stashes of gear that would help them break out of HMP Cosford for good. The hardened squad of Screws (Yellow team) were the hapless bunch charged with suppressing the riot by re-capturing the escapees and dealing with “The Daddy” of A-Block.
The fighting was fierce, the Screws flushing out the hidden Lags, but falling prey to various ambushes; leading to a high death toll on both sides. The Lags (reds) managed to safe guard the Daddy, keeping the Screws at bay, whilst laying hands on all 4 of their secret stashes. The first skirmish of the Cosford riot ended with 73 dead Screws and 63 recaptured Lags…First blood to the Convicts!
Game 2, and the fighting had moved to the maximum security wing; where a cornered detachment of Screws (yellows) were fighting for their lives and holding off the psychos of cell block B (reds), who were intent on cutting the prisons power to escape their confines and join the riot proper. Despite some well coordinated charges and inventive attack routes (UP the cliff face? Really?!?) from the Lags, the Screws held their nerve and kept the power on at all but 1 of the 3 Power Junction Breakers. Victory for the Screws kept the Max Security prisoners firmly behind bars…
With a change of roles for the teams at Game 3, the convicts of cell block C (yellow team) took the riot into their capable hands, tearing out of their exercise yard and engaging in a running battle with the Screws (red team) down the length of the prison grounds. The Screws, although ploughing in with gusto and distributing generous judicial beatings were eventually overwhelmed by the ferocity of the wild eyed Lags, ripping at their flanks. The smoke cleared on C-Block with “The Daddy” alive, and 91 dead Screws to 52 recaptured Lags…with the riot sufficiently escalated, the time for the prison break was nigh.
With the Screws on the ropes, and the prison largely in chaos, the time was finally ripe for the Lags (yellows) to make a break for freedom and charge the perimeter fences. If they could just tear down the 3 electric perimeters, freedom was theirs. All that stood in their way was a grim faced crew of hardened Screws (reds) defending the fences like their lives depended on it. The attack on the fences was full-on, the Lags showing muchos aggression and throwing themselves at the perimeter posts in wave. Spoilt for targets, the Screws held the line and the air over each successive perimeter was THICK with flying paint (not to mention smoke!). The tide of battle was looking good for the Screws until some heroic moves from the lags at the second perimeter brought down the fence in a heart-beat after a lengthy fire-fight. Pushed back to the final perimeter fence, the Screws had nowhere to go in the face of the howling Lags, who came screaming towards them…the defenders sold their lives dearly but were eventually overwhelmed as the last fence between the villains, psychos and scum of HMP Cosford came crashing down and the Lags raced to freedom…
A great day all round; thanks for an awesome prison break-guys! There are plenty of photos posted, feel free to add any of your own. The pictures to go with the war stories the better
Watch this space for info on the next Warped Multi-Mission Scenario Game. If there’s anything you want to see, let me know and I’ll do my best to get it into the mix!
Until next time, Happy ‘Ballin!
