Guys and girls.
Im a member of a shooting organisation (BASC). I got a magazine through today that said, a guy who had a precharged air rifle was told his CAR INSURANCE was VOID if he carried any compressed gasses in the vehicle. He required a special condition on his insurance.
I suggest people ask their insurance company about it. Obviously check you policies first, so you can argue the toss over sporting/pleasure use.

Mods. Maybe a Sticky?
Cheers

you may want to check on your source of info! i've been going to and from tourneys with dozens and dozens of different people who have been transporting different compressed stuff for nearly three years and have never heard of any problems.

if it was that big a deal we would already know about it.

but with that said, where did you get this from it may be worth reading up on. i think a compressed gas sticker is the legal requirement????

let us know.:cool:

Im not talking about the Legality of it, or weather or not you stick a Compressed gasses sticker in your window.
Im talking about Your Car insurance company, voiding your claim because you carry compressed gasses in your vehicle without telling them.
Source is: British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) "Shooting and Conservation" magazine for members, page 8.
As I said, the guy uses a precharged pneumatic air rifle. He decided to tell his insurance company as a matter of courtessy.
He was shocked to discover that if he carried the rifle, let alone the tanks, his insurance would be void. Many companies told him that he would need to have Commercial Insurance which could cost £1500. He did find a company who was ok with it, in the end.
We all know what insurance companies are like. I suppose their view is that if you have a sh*t cart, and your tank goes pop and takes out a bus of kids or whatever, then you shoudnt have been carrying it. I havent got round to asking the insurance company yet. Im going to ask what im not insured for (expecting a long list) and then enquireing about Scuba diving as a hobby and going from there.
Just thought Id let you guys and girls know, it surprised me.
Ins co.s will try and get out of it if they can. Someone partks in the back of you, the cargoes away and they find a tank in the back, your fu*ked for driving without a valid ins. certificate.
