Stoke on Trent
Hello, complete newbie to the forum. I've played woodsball quite a few times and I wanted to get into playing slightly more competitive. I'm based in Stoke on Trent and wondered what my options are for finding a team or anywhere to practice and start a team? I normally go with my friend who's also interested in this route. Any help appreciated

Thanks for that mate, can't figure out how to message you directly, maybe I haven't got permission yet as a new user? CPPS doesn't look too far away, about 40 mins away from me. Do you just turn up with no kit and rent everything on the day, how does the training work if me and my mate just turned up? Sound good though really interested

As a new member you don’t have full privileges. They come naturally after approx 2 weeks with in the region of 20+ posts contributing to forum content - asking various questions and telling us about your experience of paintball so far usually covers that
The alternative for instant access to full privilege is Platinum membership

In normal times you can just turn up at CPPS when something is on to watch, check out the traders and meet people
But it Covid times they have restrictions in place so you would need to contact the CPPS with your intentions, or tie in with a team that will make the arrangements as a group

‘Training’ can consist of anything between access to one of the fields to a programmed session with an experienced professional etc

A ‘training field’ could be exclusively booked by teams in time slots for them to concentrate on what they want to do, or be ‘open training’ where teams & players go on and off the field taking turns. This could be two teams having ‘skirmishes’ as practice games or agreeing to split the field into areas (such as the 4 corners) with practice drills taking place

You will need your own gear as the CPPS is a venue rather than a rental site, but it doesn’t need to be a super bling ‘speedball’ gun. Just a paintball gun.
If you tie in to meet up with a team then most have plenty of spares and are willing to lend for a while

The fields are well maintained with Astro turf or real turf. So something such as cleated football boots is preferable, but most footwear choices will do

If you really really must have a specific item currently in the classifieds then the shortcut to instant access is to upgrade your membership to Platinum

Though the money from Platinum upgrades goes to help fund the hosting costs etc, and I went for lifetime membership myself ….. I generally recommend that new members take the time and 20 post count to ask more questions, discuss their needs/preferences etc and make a more informed decision later
Many things do last long enough or similar items come up fairly regularly (or once you have classifieds access you can post up a wanted message and then other members will pull it out of the cupboard)

If you’re a new member but have some experience already and know what will fit your needs then you can upgrade in your settings here:

The £8 option gives you a year, £20 gives you lifetime platinum

Great info Tom. I do have a few questions that's are small and I bet people on here have lots of info for me. Will scout on the site some more to see if other people have already asked the same questions and post mine if not. Thanks again :)

With the era of forums going away, this seems like a waste of money. But that's just my opinion. If such an investment would be profitable, then why not. For now, I can just read the forum :)
