Okay here's something for you guys to mull over whilst you can't be bothered to do the work that you're getting paid for :D

When you go to your regular tournament in the Uk, and watch the games going on all day, how many of the players do you actually know, when they're on field doing their thing? Probably not many.

Alternatively, how many times do you watch a game where a guy does a crazy run though takes out three or four guys (to your amazement) and all you wanna do is shake his or her hand after the game and congratulate them, but don't do so because you don't have a clue of who they are and don't wanna look like a prick 'cos you don't know their name. Probably quite often!

We're in the fortunate situation that we've got a lot of very promising UK teams such as Twisted, Kellys, Nitro, Infiltrators and Inferno to name a few, but they rarely get the recognition for the stuff that they're doing week in week out at numerous events throughout the UK.

In Vegas we experienced pure crowd participation and excitment because two pimp players Matty Marshall (LA Ironmen) and Will Arroyo (New York Xtreme), were whipping that crowd into a frenzy every game, giving props to those who played with heart and shone on the NPPL field.

What would you think if at the next Series 2003 or M25 league event you had 50-100 cheering your team on, or giving a standing ovation for the killer move you just made or the way your last back guy shot out the final four players on the opposing team?

You like the sound of that??? Maybe i'm just dreaming here, but i don't think it would take that much time and effort to make it happen, and make the whole UK scene a lot more interesting.

Maybe its the desperation to make that killer move but I always find I play better and appear to be more on top of my game if there are people watching, particularly if its friends or family.

Last year was my first tourney year and I was lucky enough to play at campaign on the Angel field, all of a sudden I was on a field where there was a hundred or so people watching us play  it gives that extra little kick of adrenalin enabling you to give 110%..

I guess its how you achieve that is the question, probably one of best ways would be to have seating at a centrepeice field at each tourney? People would probably congregate towards that field, especially if there was an announcer giving out game details?

are we not allowed any spectators for the MM series then :( :p

I think that's a great idea!

If it became the norm for teams to all watch the games that are gettin played when they aint playin, give the game a bit of spirit. You know wot I mean...like when the crowd are shoutin for your team it gives u that bit extra :D

I think it would also improve everyone's game being a bit like teams helping each other to push themselves and be rewarded with applause for the hard work....then we could really take it to the Yanks :p

just my 2p :)

There's a psyco teacher at my school, sorry, no, psychology teacher (easy mistake :D) at my school and he was explaining to us how it's actually been scientifically proven how people's performance of different tasks can vary (for the better) with the presence of other people present ie. friends, peers, fans, whatever.
I think one of the experiments was to do with a crowd of cockroaches watching in a stadium like stand over another cockroach doing a maze or race or something - the cockroach completed the task a lot quicker with the audience. Ok, ok, I know, they were cockroaches! Still, I reckon ure right!! :p
I've noticed it when going around with my video camera at the tourneys too, as soon as someone realises I'm filming them they'll start trying to perform for the camera, it's great to watch!! :p

So anyway, awesome idea. It's just a matter of getting good staging areas for people to watch comfortably at these small tourneys. Alternatively ure gonna have to provide quite a few spare goggles for all the visitors!
Personally, I'd love to bring a group of about 10 mates to come and watch a proper paintball tourney, and I think they'd love it even more if there was a proper crowd!
Then there are the blokes who whip up the crowd, like u were saying Nicky.
- It's just like the mascots at the football or baseball games!!
I can image someone now in a massive cartoony costume of a paintball or squeegy or something prancing around....Awesome :D ...now I'm dreaming....

Alex :)

Nicky, if you'll be the one announcing, you'll need to practice making up imaginary words (is that redundant?), giving away people's positions, and announcing when people get eliminated... then all you'll need is someone playing house music over the field nullifying the teams' communications.;)

It was obnoxious sometimes, but I enjoyed it too. Good luck with getting that going over there!
