Almost fortunately for the sport is the timing. If it were silly season, or there was a slow day on the news front I can see editors leaping on this story as a chance for some sensationalism, you know the type, people in camo gear with replica guns playing War, the usual over inflated crap.

However there seems to be something more interesting brewing that they can sink their teeth into, especially those papers we all know would launch at paintball in a second for a bit of publicity.

But I wouldn't put it past them to read "riteous indignation and a desire for justice" and convert it into "psychotic fervor of those idiots with guns".

Ah well we'll see.

Court

A member of the public (NOT a paintballer) was in court last week accused of firearms offences. The prosecution was a result of the person driving along and shooting a paintball gun at the public. There is a legal issue over the paintball gun but my point is that the person is being prosecuted for using a paintball marker in a public place.

When I get to know the outcome I will let you know.

Hopefully if the police catch this idiot they will prosecute and not just treat them to a weeks holiday in Florida!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Update

The Crown dropped the "firearms" charges partly as a result of the UKPSF letter with regards to paintball markers being air weapons and not firearms.

BUT

The person concerned is awaiting sentencing as the public order offences remained. He could get a prison term.

This is a warning to all you paintballers who use your markers away from a designated paintball site. You might not get charged with firearms offences but firing in a public place could result in other charges.

i.e shooting motorway signs and billboards on the way home from sites!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really hope that no-body belonging to this forum would ever pull that kind of sh*t!

If serious players pull these sort of stunts then the sport deserves to die! And I love paintball as much as anyone.
