The effect is negligable :)

I tried it on my brothers flash, plugged the hole where it normally goes and shot at around 12-13bps until the hopper was empty and there was no noticable shoot down(except the normal drop off)

On spyders, it looks like this:

So the air is rushing past the chamber so it doiesn't actually have any use, except to provide an ectra place for it to leak :p
