i did the same with some dye slick lube

the egg does fit the Ion, its just a little tight...

(i wouldnt recomend putting it in without grease of some sort as you will have a horrible job getting it back out..)

in the stock theres 3 o-rings i believe.. ive taken 2 out and they fit my egg perfectly

bearing in mind the ion i bought, brand new, 2 of the o rings broke the first time i put my hopper in it was only a revolution an all... had to resort to the good ol' electrical tape for a while... doesnt help your problem much im afraid...
