I am almost ashamed to ask this...

How do you fit an egg to an ion without a Q lock. I have put a revvy on it with no problems, just screwed it in. Now just tried it with 2 different eggs and no matter how much im screwing it doesnt wanna go in.

I seem to remember a while ago someone mentioning something about sanding it down to make it fit. Could someone please give me a slap and explain how this is done (the fitting of the egg, not how to sand!).

odd, my egg fits. Bit tight but it does fit withh all the o-rings in place. Have you checed that an o-ring hasn't come loose and is jaming the whole thing up?

Most people replace the feedneck with a clamping style one, but make sure you threadlock it in, i've seen peoples feednecks unscrew in a game before now. Also get a nice on/off as the standard setup is quite long with a 1.1l bottle

yeah had a look inside, seems to be just one O ring in there. I got this second hand so am guessing thats ok.

Problem is i have 8 more ions turning up next week, i have to fit the eggs and use them that day in a tournie so without Q locks think the sanding approach is what i have to do.

Am i right in saying the eggs neck is a little bit too big, so by sanding it a bit it will eventually fit into this screw neck that ions have?

You can sand - but the neck material is quite hard - so be prepared to get aching arms (especially if you are doing 8!).

From memory - there should be 2 large o-rings in the stock feedneck. Sounds like you've got a missing one. Try taking the other one out - see if that helps the egg fit.

As most have already said - get some sort of clamping feedneck - much better than sanding eggs (as it also makes them weaker - my old one eventually snapped!).

Revvy no longer fits. Put the O ring back in and noticed there are 3 places it fits, using this a assume im missing 2 O rings. I am hoping to god that in the new ions im getting O rings are included as spares.

Will ring up the shop and also ask them how much for Q locks, as i doubt ill be able to get 8 from the forum as a nice price.

Okay, just dug out my old feedneck and tried it on my egg (brand new neck, never cut or sanded) and it would not fit. Removed the top 2 o rings and made sure the bottom o ring was seated correctly by running my finger round it firmly. With a little force the neck 'poped' past the o ring but wasn't held in very securly. Took out the egg and replaced the next o ring up and did the same thing, egg was held pretty securly. Took the egg off again and replaced the 3rd o ring and had to really force the egg to get the feedneck in, and now its stuck.

So 2 o rings should do it, 3 if you really want to be safe
