Very stiff tank on my Ion

Hi all,

After a first complete dissassembly and reassembly of my Ion I went to test it to make sure it worked OK. Turns out all is fine there thankfully, but I found it extremely difficult to unscrew the tank afterwards - Seemingly moreso than it was in the past. I'm using a standard pin valve on a PMI 3000psi air tank and the Ion standard ASA - I even needed somebody else to hold the gun still whilst I unscrewed the tank. Any particular reason for this?

Planning on getting an on/off soon - Will this make it easier? Guessing there would be no pressure then so should unscrew a lot easier.

Also when I'd screwed the tank in, it made a very quiet hissing sound in the ASA for about 20 seconds before disappearing - Is this just the reg filling with air? As I say, it went away without me screwing on any more so wasn't about it not being in far enough.

Anyway, would be great if somebody could help a newbie out and explain this :)

Cheers,

-Will

Pressure will hold the reg firm to the asa. Without an on/off asa just fire the marker (with no paint obviously) while you unscrew the tank. It will be a lot easier.

you have screwed the bottle in at a slight angle which make the threads dont align and they cut into each other normally the asa as it is weaker you should be able to see it on the asa

i doubt you have crossed threaded it, but what you should look out for is metal shavings in the threads of the standard duckbill asa, you can get quite a build up so make sure its clean :)

Alright, thanks guys. Will keep an eye out in Classifieds for an ON/OFF and try to keep it clean in the mean time :)

I'll try shooting it as I unscrew it...Need to be shooting off fast or just every second or so?

Cheers,

-Will
