how many near misses have we seen? how many just at the last event you attended?

We are lucky every tournament.......time for zero tolerance.......time for a marshal in the set up tent. I know I keep bringing it up, but the PA was spot on, excellent set up and some of the most consistent, firm but fair marshalling I've ever heard of.

I was at an event a couple of months back, on one field I had to yell at a marshall ............ he had his mask off (our team had markers safe) when the other team walked on field and fired off a few........ near miss. Same event, two players walked off field chatting and made it from the game to the tent with one live cocker and an E-blade (switched off) no condoms on either. It happens all of the time.............. should we be accepting it?
How many times have you heard:
"no no, it's OK it's switched off"
" nah, the hoppers empty"
"I've got the safety on" As excuses? this is on top of abuse/missuse of air tanks etc....
Someone's going to get badly hurt.
As for condoms....... have you seen the rigid plastic ones? that's the way to go........ I've seen too many fabric ones start to fail to trust them, they just aren't reliable enough..

Mate, if you are refering to the bags on Apoc, they are actually safer than any bag or sock i have come across, they are double thickness canvas inside with fluffy outsides! Also you may notice they look HUGE, this is so they are instantly seen from anywhere on or off field, and also have the advantage of never being able to lose em
Trust me, they have been field tested beyond actual need, and am in process of getting the whole team kitted in em, would rather have a safe condom that is very visible, than those small ones or squeeges.

I totally agree on the safety issue, i didnt see anyone acting up myself, but if you saw them, did you pull em up on the issues? Report them to organiser? Surely its everyones job to enforce these rules, not just Blakeys!

Yes tom you may of miss understood my post this was a condom,im not naming the company that made it as it came free with every marker they sold, but after a few washes it was week and the ball just penatrated the bag, then hit this lad in the temple,
another thing Im still seing badly made condoms just have a look around them on the stalls, the rienforcing for some stupid reason,only covers the cente bottom of the bag ? and leaves a good 25mm either side not rienforced, when the barrel is placed in the cord fastened tight the barrel automatically finds the corner of the bag ,which is not rienforced A saftey device with a weekness , when i spoken to the co that gave these awasy they said its designed to have a plug on the barrel then the condom on the plug

what do you guys think , although the lad that was hurt was very lucky , he also was compensated by the company with some free goodies and i now believe all there condoms made like the above details have been binned .

I had one of those for my first marker. Didnt know you where supposed to have a bung underneath (Hell, I thought the condoms where supposed to replace bungs). First day out on the way back to the safe zone I snagged the triger (No saftey) and shot through the end of it.

Got a nice heavy duty plastic thing now.

The new Dye barrel bags are superb, 2 and 3 layers where applicable inside and all double stiched. The actual centre piece is doubled up and 'hard' for that extra bit safety

At a training seesion our team had we had two brand new '~Dye barrel bags, go in exactly the same place, although it scredded the ball, shell and fill still came out....

i'm afraid that i was one of the perpotrators of not using a bag 1 game. took it off and put the condom in my pocket, and i lost it during the game, however i took the barrel off my gun and the bolt out, so my marker was safe.

Faulty or badly made barrel condoms aside how many of you have seen people firing accidently (???) when they are filling their tanks, I personally have been missed by inches and Millimetres when I supervised and gave the air fills for both Mayhem and Campaign (as was) and a great many of Doug Setters tournaments....ok mechanical markers can't be switched off but electro's can but do people do this when they fill their tanks...nope...I'm sure H-Pac have similar storys to tell...as in general their system is a self serve basis the operator isn't in very close proximity but it happens with alarming regularity.

At the diablo cup last year i was walking from a field and suddenly this guys marker got a shot off ..... barrel condom flew off and smacked someone right in the face.


Could tell it hurt the guy coz he shouted "t**t" lol
