right! is this me just being over cautious since my accident or im i justified in brining this up.....

i was down at the midland masters this weekend and was horrified to see the shear amount of disriguard for other players safety from some player of others and there own safety.....

midland masters and site owners do a mighty fine job of making tournemants safe for us to play and watch but there is still a group of people out there that think saftey and rules dont apply to them...

fluffy sticks used as barrel bungs.
not wearing googles when signs clearly mark areas wear goggles must be worn.
firing markers in safe zone/staging areas frogeting the ball still in the breech.
throwing paint around staging areas.
barel bungs that fligh out when markers are fired...
home made barrel socks made from fluffy stuff in our to look cool.

just to name a few..

maybe perhaps these people need to reminded of why these rules are put into place in the first place.....

something else i notice was the increasment of spectators wearing ski/snowboarding googles whilst walking around the fields..... are these although they might look cool safe and up to the job if a ball was to hit them on the lens..

is time that these issues are policed at tournies.....

i apprieciate organisers cant see everything that goes on but is safety not everybodies responsibilty.........

Safety

Have to agree with Iain on this and add a little bit myself i also saw ballers firing off there markers in the area where spectators were. (Spectators were walking at the side of the playing fields) as Iain has said there were a lot of people wearing skiing goggles which if hit square on may or may not protect the owners eyes but these goggles do not have protection for any other part of the face so would just like to see all the ballers think a bit more when not in the game arena. As for fluffys being used as barrel bungs these people need there head looked at isnt the point of a bung or barrel bag to stop anything coming out of the end of the marker nothing is going to stop these fluffys coming out like a dart if you accidently fire the marker

In all honesty I was guilty of walkin about with ma mask off a couple off times, but I was pretty shocked seein people shootin in the spectator area just round from the target area.

And am sick off sh*ttin maself everytime sum1 leaves a ball in the gun and shoots it off in the players tent, it happend like 4 times on Sunday, sum1 always forgets and shoots it off and it hits the tent or sumthin.

Didn t actually see any fluffy s bein used as barel bungs but can t beleive people were doin it, sum people need to wake up!

MM is a great event and the only thing that really lets it down is well................................................................................. us

look at the PA......... lots of penalties for goggles off, 'cos they took it very seriously (even one of my lot got penalised)

When was the last time you saw any penalties for goggle lifting etc.... aside from the PA????????????????

Too right Iain, time this was sorted before we lose the sport to the HSE or worse someone is hurt as badly as yourself (OR WORSE) in the UK.

We all carry a potential bomb/harpoon gun combo and think nothing of it........... safeway are more careful with the soda-stream refils than some players are with 4500 psi.

well me too

We was staging in the old area, one PBaller , shot off his marker although it was condomed up , the ball forced off the condom it shot over our heads, even though the condom reduced the rate off speed the ball had its still not safe in the staging area.

I also would like to bring the inspection of bungs to attention as ance they have been fired in to and washed a few times , they show signs of weekness, and should be binned, just like a car failing a MOT safty test, as i seen a very nasty accident at a training session a few weeks ago, where the condom failed and a young baller took the full impact on the temple in the safe zone with no goggs on , Fortunatly lady luck was on his side Thank god

Just my 2p worth.

Barrel bungs are (IIRC) banned in the Millennium series. Isn't it time this was adopted by all series and allow only barrel condoms (which are far safer)?

A barrel condom costs next to nowt so it's hardly going to break anyones bank.

Opinions?
