I am not sure if you have caught it but it is probably likely.
The problem is now that it may try to send itself to anyone in your address book. Go to www.downloads.com and download a demo of norton antivirus. then go to www.astalavista.box.sk , do a search for norton anti virus and download one of the cracks. Unzip it and follow the instructions. You should now have a full working version of norton anti virus. OK its illegal but hey it saves you money. Now do a full virus scan then click on the link in beakers post on this thread and follow the instructions if you do have the virus. It may be a good idea to inform anyone in your address book if you do have it as they will have to go through the same process to get rid of it. Loveletter virus' are rather nasty as they can really mess up your PC such as messing up all your MP3 files.
I have noticed that it is still very possible to get the loveletter virus if you open any thread that Mad Dog has replied to as well as the ones he started. So to all, Be Very Careful!!!
How in the world does a virus attach itself to an image file?
Now if he uploaded a virus AS his avitar, that's a diffrent story and I can see how that could launch a virus on your computer. But if it's a jpg, how does it attach?
From what some of my nerdy friends told me, it's actually quite easy to disguise a virus as a .jpg file. That's why e-mail software like outlook is very vulnerable to virusses (viri? ), because it opens op .jpg files straight away.
I'm glad I was offline for a few days after reading this......
The file was a .VBS file which is a virus. So every time you open a thread which Mad Dog has replied to or started, you were opening up the vbs file. Just as if you open up an atatchment send with an email. LoveLetter virus' are notorious for being spread on mIrQ's in chat rooms.
but it's still the matter of opening up the file, yes? In which case, you'r ebieng fooled that it's a .jpg when it's not. It's just that in a forum like this, it opens up the file as a part of the software.
