If you look straight down your marker with a side feed, then wieght shouldn't matter as they'll already have hit your hopper as you come out :)
Vert feed is easier to move about with and easier to switch, plus you don't have to keep buying elbows :)
I suppose it must be slightly faster too and it eliminates another possible paint ball breaking point from the feed.

feed time is almost identical.......exactly the same if you use a force fed hopper.
vert looks better but also balances the marker and stops your hopper hanging out of bunkers before the rest of you gets there.

as for being side heavy tho....ive never had that prob with side feed cockers (and ive had a few of them).

dont worry about sighting down the barrel as well....i never look down the barrel of a marker anyway......its very rare i have enough space behind a bunker to get in the right possition to look down the barrel....shoot from the hip and watch the paint.....forget what the marker is doing......just keep your finger/s moving as fast as you can and put the beam of paint where the bad guy is! oh and dont forget to pot up now and then!
