its true that cockers can go wrong but this only happens usualy if you mess with the setup yourself. Cockers are probably the most accurate gun out there and haves super gas efficiency.

and you have the advantage that the stock cocker is top. the aftermarket parts dont have much over the stock ones these days.

so personaly i would go the extra few bucks for a cocker because it can cut it on the rec scene and in the big time. and they look sweet too.

well thats not so easy.

the whole thing about sponsership is that the company in question gets some advertising out of it. Now if it is a small local site at which you train then they may let you train for free with cheap paint etc if you say your sponsered by them.

but to get sponsered by bigger companies, JT, DYE, Diablo, Smart Parts etc. then you have to be good enough to say "this is what we have done......and this is where we hope to go."

and basicaly make them think that you will influence the buy =ing of their products be being good and other people seeing that your good and wanting to copy.

not an easy one to do

Cocker...

I have a cocker, i don't want anything but a cocker and i know many other people who use cockers. I don't know jack about the finer workings of the inside, i leave them alone and they work fine. If it breaks, a rare occurance, it can be taken to place like planet eclipse and fixed for a smallish fee i guess, or a teammate more experienced in the workings of a cocker can help you.

Lastly the number of modifications available for a cocker is vastly greater than that available for a tippmann 98.

I own both Tippmanns and Cockers

Hi.

I just happen to own a Tippmann pro-lite (actually 2 of them) and an autococker (3 of them).

I've had my pro-lites since '93 and they have performed well. Tippmanns are known as reliable and sturdy guns. Although they do not have as many aftermarket mods out there as their competition, there is still alot that can be done to get them to perform on par with other blow-back type guns (spyders, for example).

However, I would not rate Tippmanns on par with the torunament type guns (Angels, Bushy, e-mgas, cockers, etc.)

Cockers, IMHO are excellent guns with deadly accuracy and great ROF. True, when they do go down, they go down in flames, but alot of times, it is due to the player not understanding how the gun works and don't know what they're doing.

So in short:
if you want to play rec-ball and want simple "play and forget" maintenance, a Tioppmann is fine.

if you want a high performance gun and have a knack for machines, a cocker is fine. Just remember, a good cocker player is one who knows how a cocker works.

good luck,
bouncer

one more thing...

IMHO, I think ANYONE can use a cocker and use it well. They just have to be willing to take some time out to understand the gun. It's not that hard. And once you figure it all out, it's simple to troubleshoot.
