think i'll try and narrow down where its coming from, another ego owner from another forum suggested i strip the trigger frame away from the body and feel around make sure its not the solenoid or QEV barbs. will do that first would like to sort this out without sending it off if possible.

The leak obviously needs sorting - but have you checked Dwell and FSDO settings?

If the Dwell's set too low it may explain velocity/consistencey problem. The ideal settings for each Ego vary - but I run mine at 9ms Dwell, and FSDO of 2. LPR also effects velocity if set too low, and as Lump said flush is a good ball park setting for this. My own is set about 1/2 a turn below flush, and with everything cleaned & lubed regularly, shooting decent paint will give me 280fps +/- 2 all day.

Check your settings are close to factory spec (check manual), just in case previous owner has frigged around with it. If the guns still short on velocity and inconsistent, it could be trip to planet is on the cards.

what lube should i use, the manual is very specific about vaseline for the regs and light gun oil for the bolt and rammer, but no mention on what to use on the other seals between the LPR and the front of the rammer housing where the main exhaust valve is.

air is coming directly out the hole that feeds air to the bolt, no air leaking anywhere else from what i can tell.
Yep sounds like a duff exhaust valve or seat. Could also be one of the o-rings is damaged at the front of the ram sleeve?
