I've heard all the arguments etc etc, but isn't it about time WDP just allowed the IR3 to be unlocked? They are basically forcing people to sell their IR3's or buy new boards because they can't keep up with other ramping markers. Even if Full-auto was still locked at least we could level the playing field a little. There are so many tourneys these days where ramping is allowed that it makes no sense to keep the marker locked.
I wouldn't mind having to send it to a MT to get unlocked, I just think WDP have been firm on this for a little to long and it's starting to take the P***

Just my little rant :D

This is one of the reasons the Spitfire mod is so popular, and of course the fantastic performance upgrade you get.

I would rather pay extra and get a Spitfire Mod done to my IR3 than have it flashed. These things are awesome; from the electronics to the mechanical work.

Too right! with the boards that John C are getting, and the amazing craftsmanship that Tom can offer you can't go wrong! and if there are any problems (doubtful) then you shouldn't hesitate to ask them about any problems! These guys are trustworthy, and doing an amazing job for us :)

I agree too and I wish I had the money for the mod but at the minute I barely have enough cash to go paintballing. I've not had my own kit for too long and am still trying to get it all together so it leaves very little cash for upgrades.
As the spitfire mod will improve your IR3 10x it's an uber mod, but for those just looking for a cheap way to get ramping (That should work with COPS and sensi) then getting the board unlocked is about the cheapest. I know it wont perform outstandingly, but if that's what I wanted I'd go for the Spitfire in a heartbeat.

But now you're all talking about it...
Wanna start a "Spitfire Dem's IR3" Fund??

The point is why would WDP want to update a obsolete gun?

They are a business not your best mate down the pub - if they consistantly updated all their obsolete guns the chances being that a fair percentage of their incomings from markers would drop - afterall were not all into the craze of having the latest marker.

I honestly think that people who buy new markers will always buy new markers, and adding ramping to an old marker will do little to dissuade them. It will however give the second hand market a boost and will allow players with less money to compete more in tournaments, allowing them to focus more on their skills as opposed to trying to better their shooting speeds.

As long as ramping is around, and manufacturers insist on making every marker they churn out able to ramp, then I think they should offer some sort of support for older equipment. I'm not talking a full service and some super-dooper software upgradee, but if they released a kit allowing people/angel techs to upgrade the software then more people would but second hand markers produced by them... and in time they would probably be more inclined to buy from the same manufacturer if they'd had good customer service.

As you said, it's an obsolete marker, but it's all some people have got. The spitfire mod is an excellent upgrade for those that can afford it, but for those that can't would it hurt WDP that much to allow the software to be unlocked?
