I am in the process of compiling a UK rankings system along the lines of the M25 one I posted after the last round. In main as a method of lerning to build web sites !

To make it a sucsess I need as many tourny results sending to me as possible to be included in the rankings.

So every body PLEASE send you results to me (stu@go-one.freeserve.co.uk) or post them here with a brief note on Format , date, location and team size etc.

I am especialy after the S2003, MM & SWPL results as I plan on having seperate league rankings as well as an overall one.

Anyone who has an opinion or any imput on this project feel free to contact me.

Not knocking your project dude but why you doing this, personal interest or is there a reason.

Most results are posted up on P8ntballer but I guess you would be better off contacting Bully from Series 2003, I'm sure he will post you results each tournie same goes with Blakey from the MM. Not sure who to contact about the Southwest league but they have a website.

M25 you got covered? but if not contact Liz from the M25 and I'm sure they will help too.

Get someone to take a photo of the scoreboard that might be easier still.

What about the Millennium Series, the positions of UK teams there have been good recently, might help to decide between two teams that are equal in the UK but one may be stronger in Europe.

hope that was helpful.....

I'm contacting Blakey, Bully, and Syd (SWPL) direct anyway, that was a one size fits all post !

Reason, as I said I'm doing a web publishing course and need to build a web site, a UK rankings system seamed a much needed idea. I'm not bothering with the millenium cos thats a straight were you finnish is your rank series ! This is going to be a straight National ranking. As for personal intrest, beyond the lerning to build the site, don't you want to know where your team is in the grand sceme of things ?

PSK has a good point about taking Millennium results into consideration as e.g. we have one team playing this Sunday who have never played in the UK (despite being a UK team) but have done not too badly at a couple of Millenniums this year. According to ranking systems that only look at UK results, they should be in Div 5 out of 5 as a newby team, whereas they have specifically requested to be put in 1 or 2.

Other places you'll need to contact will be Dragons Lair who run a series each year, and the new tourneys at Camelot in Dorking that are due to start up in October. And don't forget the Phoenix events, as they tend to draw the big teams as well.

Will do dredgy
Cheers webby

Liz, ref Unreal (See I know who your on about !), It is extreamly rare a team would play euro events only and once unreal have played a number of events they will enter the ranking table. If a team has played NO event they will not apperar at all, but this would not mean thay have to start at the bottom as the way the positions are calculated is not dependent upon accumulated points. Also thay are obviously not a newbie team euro play or not (being half ex thunder, as am I !), and as for ANY new team, should be positioned in a seeded event as the organiser sees fit.

All will prehaps be clearer once the web site is up as it has a 'How it works' page !

Ref other events, cheers, will contact.

I will look forwards with interest to see what you come up with! One of the biggest problems I think anyone trying to create a rankings system will face is where teams have major restructuring between tournaments, e.g. most people seem to think the Skulls who are playing this year are the same guys as played under that name last year, whereas I happen to know that last year's Skulls are now Tigers Am, and this year's are the old Skulls YG so a totally different bunch of guys!

I also agree that no team's rankings can be considered accurate until they've had quite a few results entered. We had a lower than usual number of high ranked teams in May, so those results may give a skew to the rankings of teams who did attend especially for teams in the lower divisions who's "usual" opponents were playing up a group to make up for the lack of Pros.

And yes you're right, I WAS talking about Unreal, a ranking system DID put them in Div 5 due to "no previous", and they ARE playing in Div 2 as requested by them.:D

As you've experianced, teams changing squads is an inevitable part of paintball, but oftern they change names also ! If any team had a reason to have a ranking 'adjusted' or even reset to start again I don't see a big problem with that. I'm not (at present) in a position to dish out any prizes or anything, this is for interest sake. I've sent you an e-mail direct (knowing how busy sparklie gets) with a few more details. I might be wrong here but this could go some way towards helping paintball to be recognised as a sport in the UK. I think it's essential to get a full list of all competing teams in the UK and an official ranking in order for us to even appear as a structured sport.

While your contacting Bully for results may be you should talk to him about making this idea officially recognised by the UKPSF and the UKPL.

Also you should definitely include results from international tournaments as these events are the only place you find the top UK teams in each category competing against one another. The ranking wont be accurate without this information, you can refer to how the WPS award graded points for a first place depending on the calibre of an event.

Also check out Chris Raehl's post regarding an online team roster database ( under - major league tournaments, 'Man do I rule or what'). He has one running for the APPA this would be another great thing to get going.

Loads of respect for putting the time into this.
