Try Before You Buy - do the people that sell on this forum usually allow you to come over and try it out before buying, just like you would view a room before renting?

It will depend on individuals
It's a private sale between two people, so if you're near enough to each other or go to a site/event then you could express an interest.
There is the possibility that you may get gazumped by a confirmed buyer, but if you are interested in looking first then deciding if you want to buy then ideally make that clear with the buyer so you don't upset people who think they are just meeting to do the sale
You could always ask local players to try on their masks. I ordered my i4-s without trying, but luckily they fit me well.
