Alien, im gettin in that tower with, ya, coz im gettin kinda sick of this!!!! I dont care bout any of this legal bollox, im just a bit knacked that if i pull my trigger 10 times sometimes an extra ball or 2 squeezes out an i can get bummed for it.

I just think sensible limits should be set. if you fire ten shots and get 12 balls out, fine, not a prob. if you fire 2 and get 50, (a la Walkers matrix!!!) you deserved to get raped.
If a marshal picks your gun up, doesnt touch the trigger and it fires, get it adjusted, but if a marshal has to hit it (a slap "force" should be standardised)to get it to fire, it should be allowed on field.

Not settin out to get you AT ALL Leon, just tryin to have an intelligent discussion, maybe solving something that narks me.

Love,
Paul

To tie the two up, who has not seen this senario............

1. Guy comes back from game takes barrel off (inc condom) to clean barrel.

2. Guy with stupid trigger puts gun on table & it goes off.

As Liz has categorically stated before, Paintball Guns ARE FIREARMS. No question. They do not a require a licence as they propel rounds with less than 12 ft/lbs of force, but they are firearms nonetheless, in the same way that an air rifle is a firearm.

So they are most definitely included in the legislation prohibiting fully automatic operation- see section 5(1) a of the firearms act.

I was playing paintball during the "bad" years in the 90s when the future looked bleak and the government was out to legislate aginst us.... let's not get into that situation again. At the end of the day, at tournaments we are running around with firearms close to the public, so we all owe it to ourselves to do everything we can to maintain the excellent safety record that paintball has enjoyed so far.

Personally if that means adding an extra 20 grams of trigger pressure, or losing a few balls per second, then I'm willing to do it.

Oh waaah.

What is the big freaking deal about setting up your marker so that when you pull the trigger 10 times, you get 10 shots, or less, every single time?

How much of an idiot do you have to be to not be able to handle that?

The reactive trigger feature kicks back on your finger, and with simple tuning can be set up so that the return force is so strong you just keep your finger steady and the trigger bounces off it- basically "runaway". That's obviously not right, and clearly dangerous. However a correctly tuned 'Mag with a reactive trigger will not do this. However the NPPL have banned RTs. outright That's a shame for the 'Mag owners who have made the decision to stick with mechanical triggerse for reasons of simplicity and reliability: as long as the marker isn't tuned to "runaway", it still won't fire as fast as an electro "walking" the trigger, so why is the RT unsafe?

And technically, any marker with an electro trigger can be set up to bounce, so why only ban RTs?
As far as I'm aware, RT/ReTro/X-Valve'd mags are not banned from the NPPL, although individual markers may be banned if found to 'runaway' during play.

I run a X-Valved mag and although is does start to really rip once you get into a rhythm, it's still only one shot per pull and I do need to physically pull the trigger myself - it won't runaway.

Any marker with a trigger that will fire if given a gentle knock sounds bloody dangerous to me - you could smack my mag with a lump hammer and it wouldn't fire......or dent for that matter ;)

When all is said and done

OK, the law in the U.K. is the law. Any air weapon and markers are classed as air weapons here, MUST fire only once per trigger pull. That is the law!
End of story.
If you knowingly have a marker that can fire more than that, then it is simply a full firearm and as such you need to have a FAC.

Also, don't get confused with a over reactive trigger, which still is technically one pull - one shot, bounce, auto and "runaway".

Reactive is when the trigger is pushed back and maintaining the same pressure on it will cause the marker to cycle again.
Over reactive markers are not allowed in most tournies!

Bounce is an electro only problem. When the switch begins to wear the contacts can make/break several times when the trigger is pulled, causing the marker to cycle several times per pull.
Not allowed in tournies and illegal!

Auto is hold the trigger in and spray!
Again not allowed and illegal.

Runaway is when the marker continues to fire even after the trigger is released. This can be caused by an over sensitive trigger switch, that is re-activated by the vibration of firing or worn switch/internals If it only takes a light tap to the rear of your gripframe to cycle your marker, there is always the possibility of runaway.
Will scare the cr*p out of you and your team mates!
Totally unusable and needs fixing.
If you carry on using it again not allowed and illegal!

Wanna see runaway look here http://airsoft.3dretreat.com/videos/files/blooper-walter-m11-runaway.mpg
He even takes his finger away from the trigger!!
The NPPL are reviewing a ban on the reactive trigger of RT and the E-mag/X-mag when run in manual mode.
Airgun design are also working on a non-reactive on/off to work around the current ban.
