Traveling Abroad... How bad do you really have it???

Ok here is one I don't think we have touched on...

With all my worldly travels I have been very fortunate to see this and that. But the one thing I really see is just how good I have it where I am from or currently live. How many of you have been in these so called 3rd World countries? Do you know how good you really have it? Freedom of Speach and all that good stuff. How about the basics like indoor plumbing! So have any of you been some where that really opens your eyes? Speak your Brains on this Subject! I know I would never take for grant it how good I really have it!

Good idea Rooster, so here we go......

Got to hate Greece only for the fact of the toilets with the little baskets by the side to put the paper in...I mean a hot country and used toilet paper out in the air !!! uuuuuuuggggg

Got to love America and Canada for the bottomless cups of coffee and coca cola (whoops that was a like bit)

Got to hate America and Canada for the weak lager (beer for any american/canadians reading, we have beer that is warm(room temp) but our lager is cold)

Got to hate Spain for the slowness of everything

Got to hate France for...um being french (think about it you never beat us in any war and we helped you out and gave you your country back....um how many times?)

Got to hate Sweden for the cost of everything (though the women are good, trying to balance that one)

Got to hate Ireland for not being able to understand them talk but love them for the drinks Guinniess and Murphys

Oh and before I forget, got to hate all countries that drive on the wrong side of the road........the left hand side is the correct side!!!!

Now I'm sure that there are a few contries I have left out but I'll let the rest of you fill those ones in.

BTW all the above is all slighty tongue in cheek so don't flame me too bad.

Sheesh Mark I wanted to know if you have it bad compared to other less fortunate countries. But instead you go and tell everyone you hate them! Oh well you will get yours when others read this thread! LOL

I have it bad because:

I'm glued to my pc - through uni work, surfing what is now known amongst friends as "the forum", and playing on-line games.

If I had been born into a tribe somewhere up the Amazon, I'd not have these addictions to cope with - and when the broadband goes down or the PC dies (again) I'm hit really hard - I have to go to my local and "interact" (I believe that's what it's called ) with my "housemates".

Not only that, but the girlfriend demands that I sometimes "talk" to her, and once a month or so, I have to leave the PC completely to go and "paintball" in a "tourney".



Although I must admit that I'm not particularly well travelled - Toulouse this year will be the 3rd time I've spent more than 24 hours outside England (two holidays to Scotland )

I dream of living in a third world country!!!
I live in Norfolk where everyone is bloody related to everyone else If you go any further east you fall of our beloved England. We have flood warnings every other week, Its always bloody cold or worse raining (and thats horizontal rain). The roads are crap its the only place where you can travel 20 miles to go 5 miles as the crow flies. There is nothing here either the closest paintball site stilluses pumps the next closest one is overrun with kiddies and the next closest one I work at and none of my m8's are prepared to travel to it. There are no paintball shops in Norfolk!!!
And BT have stated that we will never ever get broadband in my area!!!

Ah what the hell I've got broad shoulders, only saying how good it is here (UK) so it was in the right vein of thought but as I said at the bottom all slighty tongue in cheek. Makes you think though Robbo has a little dig at someone and gets attacked big style I attack half the world and well ...nothing

I'd love to send you to my home in South Africa, where you get no public transport, no NHS, no dole,55% unemployment, the worlds worst crime rate, worst rape rate, worst murder rate , AIDS in epidemicproportions and more guns than houses.
As for paintball, there are more fields in your county than in the whole country. All you do get is 300 days of sunshine (and massive amounts of skin cancer)
Frankly I'll take the rain and be grateful I live here instead.

Ahem, apparently you haven't ever had real quality American beers and lagers instead of the weak industrial crap. Examples of American beers which I drink regularly that are at least as good if not much better than the rest of the world's beers include:

Anchor Steam, Indian River Amberjack, Dixie Blackened Voodoo, Samuel Adams Boston Ale & White Ale, Blue Moon, Abita Amber & TurboDog & Purple Haze, Shiner Bock, Flat Tire Ale, Snow Goose, Amber Bock, Bad Frog... geez I've drank too many beers.

As for the driving issue, WHO INVENTED THE AUTOMOBILE? It wasn't a country that drives on the left side. That is the answer to that matter.

As for the rest of the world, if they suck for living conditions, well, it's their own stupid fault. I have little pity for incompetence. There is no excuse for their collective stupidity. If you can't read and write and take care of yourself, then don't come to us for sympathy.
