Grease won't do any harm to the gun on that pin completely different air path. I loosened mine with circlip pliers as well seems like it was too tight to allow the piece of brass that moves with the lever kept getting stuck till I loosened it. Off topic like

Lol well you got bottle pin>gas release lever path then you got two holes>reg chamber>rest of marker as long as you don't cake the pin it ain't gonna go the way you don't want it. Only thing shared by the two is the pin everything else is separate.

Have to say im with donk on this, i wouldnt fancy putting any oil/gease anywhere in there... Even though the bottle reg takes the pressure down to say 500 psi or whatever yours is, id rather my marker hold pressure for a minute, than risk it blowing my face and testes into someones garden. X
