pardon me if this post seems daft......but i've been out of the sport for ten years.....i packed up playing because it was costing me a fortune so my puzzle is, how much doe's it cost the average tourney player for a days ballin....please bear in mind that when i was playing the phantom was the marker of choice and woodland tourney's were all that were on offer.....the preds were winning everything........a semi auto had just been concieved but never effectively demonstrated....(he,he was told that would never catch on.....similar to mobiles i guess), how do sponsors effectively sponsor a team? it seems everyone on here has a sponsor........is that essential?

The last bit had me in stitches... :D

I think it important to draw a distinction between incentivised buying (99.9% of what people get), and actual sponsorship (the other 0.1%).

Only a tiny fraction of people are actually sponsored, most only enjoy the "luxury" of incentivised buying discounts, and that to varying degrees. Dependent upon how good you are will dictate the level of incentive you may get to use a product, but even the so called pro-teams don't get everything gratis (well some do, but not all).

People obviously want to represent their team support packages, but this shouldn't be confused with sponsorship

As to Tournament costs.....how longs a piece of string?. Paint consumption will be the largest individual component so is largely dependent on how much you shoot and how much you pay. Incentivised Paint can be had from around 20 a box and upwards. Tournament entry for an event can be dependent upon level (couple of hundred for a novice event, up to a grand for a Millennium.

As a novice it used to work out at about a ton (100 quid) each an event (entry and paint - 14 cases split 7 ways). Now it's just flight and hotel costs.

When i first started playing i think i was paying about 60 quid four a local tourney and 35 to train. This included paint and entrance fee but as stongle says it depends on what sort of "deal" you get.

My normal tourney....

£45/50 hotel
£40/£50 fuel
£35 or so entry
£30 or so paint
£30 or so food for the weekend

totaling about £180ish a tourney, times 2 a month....

Add about a case of paint and £10 site fee a weekend to train...

Works out about £450 a month on balling  but don't tell the wife... if she asks it cost me £10 a month :p
